How we became Professional Wedding Witnesses!

Sometimes in business, the most meaningful services aren’t the ones you plan… they’re the ones that naturally evolve. Becoming professional wedding witnesses was exactly that for us.

Over the years at Stacey Page Weddings, we’ve become known for calm, organised and supportive coordination. Whether it’s a 150 guest marquee celebration, a 300 guest stately home wedding full of beautiful Asian traditions or an intimate weekday ceremony, our role has always been the same to make couples feel completely looked after and at ease.

Then something unexpected happened.

We were approached by a couple getting married locally who found themselves in a difficult position. They needed witnesses for their ceremony but didn’t have anyone available to attend and they wanted to keep the day low key and private. They had been together for 45 years and simply wanted to share the same name and be legally united.

After searching online, they realised something surprising, professional wedding witness services didn’t seem to be offered in the South so they asked if we would consider helping.

Our answer was simple: yes.

They proceeded to book us and a couple of weeks ahead of their ceremony we arranged a short video call, simply to say hello and put faces to names before meeting in person on the day. On the day, my colleague and I arrived smartly and appropriately dressed for such a special occasion and introduced ourselves at Winchester Registry Office.

The team there were genuinely pleased to see us which was lovely and we met our couple after their interviews with the registrars before joining them in the ceremony room. The ceremony between the two was a beautiful and heartfelt. It was quiet, personal and meaningful. We felt incredibly proud to be part of something so important.

After signing the documents as their legal witnesses and with the couple’s permission, we took some photographs on our phones both inside and outside in the beautiful surroundings. The images were sent to them immediately afterwards.

Then we parted ways.

Simple. Calm. Professional. Stress free.
